SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY

The Senior High School Library, which once occupied a section of the main library, (OBrien Library) was transferred to the 1st floor of Belardo Hall located at the main campus of Ateneo de Naga University in September 2019. It has an area of 216 square meters and can hold a seating capacity of 93 persons and a shelving capacity of 8,750 volumes of the book. 

                 

It primarily supports institutional and research activities of the Senior High School Community in the pursuit of intellectual growth and academic excellence. 

                 

It also extends its services to other library users from private and public institutions in Naga City. 

       

The library has an open shelf system where users can access freely books arranged according to the Library Classification System and it is equipped with recent technologies that facilitate the preparation of instructional aids and information search.

OBJECTIVES OF THE LIBRARY 

The Library is the information center of the school.  It aims to support the teaching and research activities of teachers and students and welcomes the responsibility of serving other academic institutions in the province and the region within the limits of its resources. 

 

To achieve this aim, the library 

  1.  Selects and acquire books, journals, and other library materials for the instructional and research needs of its users.

  2.  Utilizes all new technologies available in organizing and bringing under bibliographic control, all the print and non-print materials. 

  3. Makes the library collection available to users using the latest technology but at the same time preserving and caring for materials for future use.

  4. To interpret the collection to users and to assist them in using the library resources and computer facilities more effectively.

  5. Encourages students to develop the habit of self-education in order that books and libraries may contribute to their intellectual development in the future years.

 

To achieve these purposes the Library constantly strives for:

 a.  Effective administration and competent staff

 b.  Adequate financial support;

 c.  Adequate staffing;

 d.  Efficient organization of library materials

 e.  Efficient services to users using the latest technology;

 f.  Adequate physical facilities; and

 g.  Regular staff development and training.

               

The Library is headed by the Senior High School Librarian and other library staff.  The Senior High School librarian is responsible for managing the library materials, staff, and operations.  She reports directly to the Senior High School Principal.

 

The collection, services, and facilities of the library are available to all the students, teachers, and personnel of the school, alumni, and students from other institutions.
