Readers' Services

                    The Senior High School Library Readers' Services oversees the operation of all programs, services, and facilities which concerns the information needs of the faculty, staff, students, and administrators.

 

LIBRARY SERVICE HOURS

                                                             

                                           Monday to Friday   8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

 

BORROWING PRIVILEGES

Student

                   A regular student can borrow a maximum of five books.  Circulation and Fiction books can be borrowed for 5 days while Filipiniana can be borrowed for 3 days. A book may be renewed if it is not demanded by another user.  

 

Teacher

                   A teacher can borrow ten (10) books for one (1) month.  Return/Renewal is enforced at the end of the month. For AV resources, a teacher can borrow three (3) titles for three days. In renewing, book/s must be presented at any library counter.

 

Office Staff

                   Office staff can borrow five (5) books for a week and maybe renewed for another week if the books are not in demand. Movies in DVD format may be borrowed for 3days only.

                  A borrower cannot renew the overdue book(s).  Any book that was borrowed and not returned on the due date is subject to recall.

 

LENDING PROCEDURES

For Room use /Photocopy

  1. The researcher can go directly to the shelves or check the book from the On-line Public Access Catalog (OPAC).

  2. The researcher must copy the bibliographic data of the book and then proceed to the shelves to look for the needed book.

  3. If the researcher cannot find the material, he/she may ask the help of the Librarian/staff on duty. 

  4. After finding the book, a researcher performs the study in the reading area, or photocopies the needed information in the book. After use, the researcher places a book in the “BOOK RETURN” area, and the staff in-charge takes charge of returning the book on the shelves.

 

For Outside Use

  1. Performs steps 1 – 3.

  2. Present a validated ID, staff on duty will scan and ascertain the validity of school identification card. The picture in the ID should match the picture on the screen.

  3. Librarian/ Library Staff will scan the book barcode found in the inside back cover of the book

  4. The staff on duty prints a receipt of the book borrowed and place a due date card on the book pocket. 

For Returning Book Loans

  1. In returning book/s which are not yet due, the student may place the book in the Book Drop at the entrance of the library.

  2. If the book(s) are already due, the student must present the book to the Staff on duty.

  3. Staff on duty will scan right away the book’s barcode and checks if the book is overdue or not.  If overdue, the system will automatically count the no. of days/hours due and the corresponding payment.  The staff on duty will issue a receipt for the accumulated fines duly acknowledged by the borrower.

  4. The staff on duty will remove the due date card on the book. 

  5. Shelving automatically follows.

 

For Borrower with Fines

       For students with fine, the library staff shall print a receipt and let the student sign the receipt.

  1. Receipts of fines shall be submitted to the library staff in charge of encoding in the Oracle.

  2. All fines will be paid directly to the Treasurer's Office after it has issued a memorandum of the deadline for all the fine charges.

  3. The last date of charging fines will be the day before the last day of submission for additional charges to the Treasurer's Office.

                     Note: The last day of borrowing for home use is a week before the cut- off date given by the Treasurer's Office.

4. At the end school year, a list of students with unsettled accounts / unreturned books shall be submitted to the Registrar Office for clearance. 

 

OVERDUE & FINES

  1. A regular fine of P2.00 per day (except Saturdays &Sundays and Holidays) is charged for each overdue book. For Filipiniana and reference books, the fine is P5.00 per hour.

  2. Borrowing privileges of a student with an overdue book(s) or outstanding accounts will be automatically suspended and will be given back until his /her account is settled.

  3. Payment for fines and the lost book should be made at the Treasurer’s Office after it has determined the last day of charging.

  4. As a general rule, no one is exempted from payment of fines nor such amount can be reduced.

  5. After payment, the receipt must be presented to the staff on duty to clear accounts.

 

LOST BOOKS

 

  1. A student who reports a lost library book is given one week to settle his account.  If the student fails to report a lost book or does not pay within the allotted time, he shall be asked to pay the corresponding fines.  The cost charged shall not exceed the actual cost of the book.

  2. The student has an option to replace the lost books with exactly the same title, author, edition, etc., or pay the actual cost.  

 

            If charged to account:

 

  • The staff in-charge will compute the fines + price of the book + processing fee.

  • The staff in-charge prints a receipt which includes the total amount to be charged to the student’s account.

  • The student will acknowledge/sign the receipt.

  • The staff in-charge will post the amount using the Oracle. 

If replacement:

  • The student will be given 1 week to replace the book.

3.The replacement form w/ the book was given for replacement is forwarded to the Technical Services Librarian for processing.

UNRETURNED OVERDUE BOOKS/AV MATERIALS

 

        Procedures for Recalling Unreturned Library Materials

        For Students

 

  1. The library staff prints report of unreturned materials.

  2. The names of students with overdue books are posted on the bulletin boards.

  3. Failure to return borrowed books means privileges are suspended and students are texted or called out from their classroom.

 

        For Teacher and ADNU Personnel Administrators

 

  1. The library staff in charge prints report of unreturned materials.

  2. Faculty and administrator with overdue materials will be given “Recall Notices” at the end of the school year.

  3. Succeeding notices will be given to those who failed to return the borrowed materials.
